Psychology that helps you understand yourself and move forward
Individual psychology for adults in Sydney and online.
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. You might be feeling anxious or overwhelmed, going through a difficult period, struggling in a relationship, or simply finding that the way you’ve been coping isn’t working as well as it used to.
Sometimes, you may not be entirely sure what the problem is – you just know that something needs to change.
My role is to help you make sense of what’s happening, understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find practical ways forward.
I offer individual therapy for adults, both in person in Sydney and via telehealth.
About me
Hi, I’m Ben.
I’m a registered psychologist and have been working with clients in private practice for more than 10 years.
Before becoming a psychologist, I worked in psychotherapy and, before that, in the corporate world. Those different experiences have shaped the way I work today: practical, collaborative and grounded in the realities of everyday life.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties and problems with alcohol or other addictive behaviours.
What therapy with me is like
Good therapy should feel like a conversation – but a conversation with a purpose.
We’ll take the time to understand what has been happening in your life, what you would like to change, and the patterns that may be contributing to the difficulties you’re experiencing.
From there, we’ll develop a clear plan together.
My approach is evidence-based and draws primarily on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), alongside other psychological approaches where they are useful.
But therapy isn’t simply about applying techniques. It is also about having a space where you can speak openly, think things through, understand yourself better, and work towards meaningful change.
Getting started
Starting therapy can feel like a significant step, particularly if you haven’t seen a psychologist before.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come in.
Our first session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like help with, and what you hope might be different. It also gives us a chance to meet and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
You don’t need a referral to make an appointment.
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
